Safer Internet Day 2026

Tuesday 10th February

Each year, we actively encourage participation in Safer Internet Day as part of your school’s approach to digital literacy, specifically Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety. Many schools use Safer Internet Day to launch the rest of the year’s conversation around online safety.

This year’s Safer Internet Day theme is :

Smart Tech, Safe Choices:
Exploring the Safe and Responsible use of AI

As you will be aware, due to potential risks, Generative AI tools (Gen AI) are restricted and staff and learners are asked not to use Gen AI tools in schools.  Because of this, you may be wondering if you are allowed to register…the answer is yes – we encourage it!

That’s because this theme is about AI and does not promote its use or indeed need the use of AI to participate in any of the provided resources.

Our young people are growing up in a world that regularly uses AI, and engaging with the above theme as part of Safer Internet Day 2026 will give them opportunities to consider the ethics, the potential risks and benefits of AI as a digital tool.

This is open to all ages from P1 to S6, with age appropriate resources.
