Primary Literacy Overview

This course explores how iPads can be used to further bring literacy to life in the primary classroom. With specific approaches centred around writing, spelling, reading and listening and talking, digital technology has the potential to enhance learning, teaching and assessments.

Who is this for?

This course is aimed at primary teachers looking to further embed digital skills into learning and teaching across all areas of literacy.

Session Outline

  • Exploring writing in the classroom using writing templates in Keynote/Pages, planning with Padlets, using Stickers, voice dictation, and presenting work through iMovie.
  • Supporting spelling in the classroom through apps including Bitsboard.
  • Ways to build on reading in the classroom using Microsoft Teams’ Learning Accelerators including generating Reading Progress tests, Immersive Reader and Epic.
  • To support listening and talking, we will look at Presenter view on Microsoft PowerPoint.
