Digital Progression Pathways

Digital Progression Pathways have been developed by Edinburgh Learns Digital to support schools to deliver progressive digital learning and teaching, embedded across the curriculum. This showcases a progression of digital skills organised alongside the Curriculum for Excellence’s Technology Organisers and corresponding Benchmarks.

Who is this for?

As educators we have a responsibility to support the development of digital skills for life, learning and work. This Progression Pathway provides assessment criteria through Early to Second Level, and suggested resources to support planning, delivery and assessment of learning.

How do I use this?

Each pathway is split across three phases to highlight progress through a level, allowing for responsive and flexible planning that supports and challenges learners at all stages. Learners may move within or across progression levels, with some working before or beyond the expected phase.

The pathways are skills-focused, with suggested resources included to give staff the autonomy to choose materials that best meet their learners’ needs. The Exemplified Learning & Resources pages offer practical ideas for developing these skills in the classroom, and the skills themselves are highlighted in bold to support the creation of clear Learning Intentions and Success Criteria.
