Teaching & Learning across CfE with Minecraft Education Edition

Why?

Minecraft Education offers a dynamic, engaging and immersive game-based approach to Learning and Teaching that can transform lessons into an interactive experience. Where young people aren’t just passive learners but active creators, thinkers, and collaborators. They are able to develop transferable skills and enjoy the interdisciplinary nature that Minecraft Education provides.

Who is this for?

  • Primary and Secondary school teachers.
  • This course will focus on building your confidence to access and use the Minecraft Education App.
  • This course will look at approaches to using Minecraft Education across all curricular areas.
  • No prior experience of the Minecraft Education app is necessary.

Outcomes

  • Be able to login to Minecraft Education on an iPad
  • Be able to access Minecraft Education resources online, and through the in-app library.
  • Complete basic tasks within the Minecraft Education game, navigating the world; and demonstrating skills by placing blocks and designing a simple structure.
  • Explore the applications of Minecraft Education across CfE.
  • Understand the features of Minecraft Education which support assessment of learning.

This course covers the following elements:

  • Planning – The physical, online and hybrid learning environments are built on positive, nurturing and appropriately challenging relationships which lead to high quality learning outcomes.
  • Teaching – Staff use a wide range of digital/online learning environments and tools and apply creative digital teaching approaches.
  • Learning – Leadership of learning through Digital Tools
  • Assessment – Digital technology is used to support the process of assessment.
