Using Digital Tools to Teach Data Handling (Primary)

Aimed at Second Level primary teachers, this course explores how iPads can be used to teach data handling on the iPads. This practical hands-on experience looks at how Microsoft Forms can be used for data gathering and how both Numbers and Excel can be used on the iPad to support learners with their skills in data analysis.

Who is this for?

This course is aimed at second level primary teachers looking to gain experience in using Microsoft Forms, Apple’s Numbers (iPad) and Microsoft Excel (iPad) in numeracy lessons.

Session Outline

  • Explore using Microsoft Forms to gather information to be used in data-handling and data-analysis lessons.
  • How to use this data in both Apple’s Numbers app and Microsoft’s Excel app (both on the iPad), by adding this information to tables.
  • Using the autosum feature on these apps to quickly generate totals and averages.
  • Turning this information into charts and graphs.
